A longtime bar owner (The Pour House in West Orange, The Boiler Room in Garfield), Mama Dag’s owner Anthony Dagostino wanted his first restaurant venture to honor the memory of his beloved mom, Patricia (aka Patsy, the original “Mama Dag”), who encouraged his love of homestyle cooking and hospitality. Inspired by family traditions, Anthony recreated recipes from memory to capture the food of his youth, and is committed to sourcing the finest, freshest local seafood possible.

Mama Dag’s proudly serves elevated Italian seafood-focused fare in a casual, convivial setting reminiscent of an old-school NYC clam bar … or, if you’re Italian American, your family’s basement kitchen! People come to Mama Dag’s for a communal experience. About Our Pizza
At Mama Dag's we like to do things a little differently … and that includes our pizza. We feature rare-in-NJ Roman style pinsa. From the Latin pinsere ("press by hand"), the rectangular crust is made from a blend of wheat, rice and soy flours, fermented for 72 hours, then cooked longer and at a lower temperature than familiar pizza crusts. The result is light, crunchy and super flavorful. Toppings include the bestselling Barese (broccoli rabe, Luganica sausage, fresh mozzarella), Vongole (clams in scampi sauce, garlic) and classic Margherita. Sample it yourself to understand why it’s all the buzz.

The food was great! I highly recommend the penne vodka. It was literally the best vodka sauce I’ve ever had. Portions were huge and quality unmatched. A great addition to West Orange!

What a great meal! Everything was on point and served hot. I had the Chicken Murphy and my wife had the Chicken Marsala, For appetizers, Calamari and Antipasto. Absolutely delicious!!!

What hasn’t been said about Mama Dag’s. It’s awesome! Great great food. A take out menu that is ready on time as indicated by your order on the website. Outstanding friendly service. Really, if you haven’t been to Mama Dag’s, go. You will love it. I’m happy to be a regular.

So tonight I tried Mama Dag’s and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT ! We ordered Shrimp Parm and Gamberi Scampi- oh wowwwww... flavorful and GREAT portions ... enough to eat half now and save the rest for lunch tomorrow. Living in NY , one of my favorite Italian restaurants was Carmine’s in NYC. But I think I have found a really nice gem of a place in WO. DEFINITELY gonna be repeat customers !

I've been to Mama Dag's several times now and each and every time it is a delight! The service is professional and attentive and the food! Just outstanding! So fresh, beautifully and carefully prepared, well presented and very generous. This has become one of my favorite places to eat. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Went to Mama Dag’s tonight for take out after reading great reviews! I was so happy with the food and the service. I had the pleasure of meeting Anthony and the atmosphere was very welcoming. Ordered awesome linguini with clams and a burrata salad. Delicious!!!! Can’t wait to go back.
